What locks at the cutoff
Rewards lock at your rank when the boundary hits — climbing after does nothing for the season that just closed. Decay only threatens Diamond+ (banked games bleed out); below Diamond your rank waits for the cutoff. Then the new season soft-resets everyone: placements seed you below your old spot and the climb restarts against fresh MMR.
